ST. MARYS, Ohio (05/31/22) – Tyler Erb bested Sunday night’s Johnny Appleseed Classic at Eldora Speedway in his Bulk Material Lift / M&W Transport No. 1 Best Performance Motorsports / First Class Septic / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The victory was his sixth of the 2022 season and was worth $5,000.

“It was cool to get to Victory Lane at Eldora (Speedway). We didn’t have the weekend that we would’ve liked at the Show-Me 100, but we did make gains both days,” Erb said. “The track at Eldora was challenging, and I had to bide my time. I about gave it away with two (laps) to go there getting into (turn) three, but it was awesome man. We went there a month ago or whatever. Just terrible. Bad decisions on our part. We brought ol’ Silver Bullet back out and it’s been good.”

The team kicked off the extended Memorial Day weekend of racing with a trip west to Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) for the 30th annual Lucas Oil Show-Me 100

After losing Thursday’s Cowboy Classic to wet weather, Best Performance Motorsports and driver Tyler Erb were one of 63 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries amassed on Friday for the second round of the 30th annual Show-Me 100 weekend.

Following the 14th-fastest time in his group, Erb posted a sixth-place finish in his heat race, relegating him to a B-Main for another shot at the $6,000-to-win Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson preliminary feature. Needing to place second or better, Tyler came one spot short with a third-place outing as his night came to an early end.

With preliminary results from Friday setting the grid for Saturday’s finale, Tyler rolled off from the second row of his B-Main. Improving two spots to pick up the 15-lap victory, Erb locked into the 21st-starting position for the Show-Me 100 main event. With $50,000 on the line, Tyler Erb clawed forward eight spots in the 100-lapper to finish 13th.

On Sunday, Erb headed to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the annual Johnny Appleseed Classic. With a third-place finish in his heat race positioning him on the fifth row for the A-Main, Tyler inherited the lead on lap 17 and led the final 13 circuits to claim his sixth win of the season and a $5,000 prize. He took the checkers ahead of Kyle Strickler, Frank Heckenast Jr., Ricky Weiss, and Spencer Hughes.

On Monday night the holiday weekend of racing drew to a close with the Ultimate Heart of America Series-sanctioned C.J. Rayburn Memorial at Circle City Raceway (Indianapolis, Ind.), Tyler secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a heat race win. After leading laps early, Erb dropped back to second when the checkered flag flew, following James Rice across the line with Spencer Hughes rounding out the podium.

The team will kick off this week’s racing slate on Wednesday with a $22,022-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America event at Tri-City Speedway (Pontoon Beach, Ill.). From there the team will make the long trek to The Mountain State for the weekend’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) Historic 100 doubleheader at West Virginia Motor Speedway. The weekend is headed by a $15,000-to-win event on Friday and a $50,000-to-win program on Saturday.

Erb is currently fourth in the latest Castrol FloRacing Night in America standings and third in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings.
