Erb lands sixth place finish in Ralph Latham Memorial at Florence
Tyler Erb and the Best Performance Motorsports team returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Wednesday night at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for the 34th annual Ralph Latham Memorial. In a stout field of 53 cars, Erb dropped one spot in his heat race to grab the third and final transfer spot into the opening night feature. With $12,000 on the line, Tyler advanced forward eight positions to register a sixth place finish.
On Thursday evening for the North/South Shootout, Erb topped the 52-car field in time trials which earned him a $2,034 prize in honor of Doug Lee. Scoring a runner-up finish in his heat behind Kyle Bronson, Tyler locked into the 7th-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Losing one spot in the 50-lap affair, Erb recorded an eighth place finish.
For two rounds of heat races on Friday night, Tyler passed four cars in his first heat to finish fourth before Mother Nature postponed the second round to Saturday afternoon. Jumping up one spot to place second behind Jonathan Davenport, Erb sat ninth overall in passing points.
Starting Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 in ninth, Erb took advantage of a caution on lap-51 for debris to replace his two rear tires. After pulling back into the hot pit on lap 57, Tyler rebounded from the tail of the field to finish 15th.
Tyler is currently fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings. Full results from these events are available at www.LucasDirt.com.
