Tyler Erb rebounds to finish 10th in I-80 Nationals finale
Tyler Erb returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Thursday evening at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) for the event replacing the Knoxville Nationals due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Drawing 46 cars for the I-80 Nationals, Erb followed up a sixth place finish in his heat with a runner-up spot in his B-Main behind Billy Moyer Jr. With $7,000 on the line in the opening night feature, Tyler gained two spots in the 30-lapper to place 20th.
On Friday afternoon for another $7,000-to-win preliminary feature, Tyler came in 12th fastest in his group before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Rolling off 12th for the main event, Erb faded back to a 22nd place outing in the 30-lap affair.
With preliminary results from Thursday and Friday positioning him on the front row of his B-Main on Saturday night, Erb notched a runner-up finish behind Jared Landers, locking him into the 22nd-starting position for the $30,000-to-win I-80 Nationals. After suffering a flat right-rear tire on lap 64, Tyler Erb marched from the tail of the field to finish 10th.
Tyler remains in fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings. Full results from these events are available at www.LucasDirt.com.
