Tyler Erb
Top-5 finish in Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth
Tyler Erb and the Best Performance Motorsports team put a wrap on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series 2020 campaign over the weekend at Portsmouth (Ohio) Raceway Park.
Erb drove his Industrial Resourcing Group No. 1 Best Performance Motorsports/ Rocket Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model from deep in the field to register a fifth-place finish in Saturday’s 40th Annual Dirt Track World Championship.
“We got behind on Friday night and had to come through the B-Main. Fortunately, we were able to bring home a solid fifth-place finish,” said Erb. “It’s been an up and down season, so a Top-5 in the highest paying race of the year is a great way to cap off the Lucas Oil season. We’re planning a few more races to end the year. I’m looking forward to finishing out the year strong.”
Tyler Erb was one of 63 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series entries on hand at Portsmouth Raceway Park on Friday night to wrap up the 2020 season. With the Top-3 from each heat race transferring to the finale, Erb came one spot short with a fourth-place finish, sending him to a B-Main on Saturday.
Finishing second behind Jimmy Owens, Tyler locked into the 22nd-starting position for the $100,000-to-win Dirt Track World Championship. Wheeling his way to a Top-5, Erb advanced 17 spots in the 100-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish behind Brandon Sheppard, Ricky Thornton Jr., Tim McCreadie, and Chris Madden.
Erb finished fifth in the final Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship standings. To view full results from this event and complete standings, please visit www.LucasDirt.com.
